I need to find some items to work with my brother who asperger’s syndrome and sensory problems. The only problem is insurance will not cover any type of these items and my family is very low income.We don’t have a big tree in our yard to hang one from either. He hates park swings he needs the deep pressure more. I’m also looking for maybe a hammock swing, and some other sensory products. Any ideas? I would like to give his some things for christmas if I can find them super low priced or for free.

if your brother doesn not have any physical disbilities then a regular hammock may be suitable for him, have a search on ebay for a cheap hammock, especially the free standing type with a metal frame.
sensory products - i work in a special needs school and we make or adapt a lot of our own sensory things. Go to a hardware store and find things that you like the feeling off, pipes, brushes etc.
We have wonderful home made sensory bowls to help our children explore things.
Just get a largeish bowl (ours are wooden) and attach a tap lamp to the bottom (with velcro) then you can fil the bowl with things to explore (tinsel, shells, stones, polystyrene pieces, flowers, leaves, beads, string etc) The bowl shape encourages children to reach inside and the light helps to focus their attention.
However because of the use of small items in the bowls the children are never left alone with them due to choking hazards
