I don’t have any trees in my back yard but want to have a hammock hanging. I am planning to insert two wooden poles vertically about 12 feet apart and suspend the hammock from these. I also plan to make them removable (i.e. have the concrete foundation with a circular metal tube through the middle in which the wooden poles can be inserted). How deep and wide should I pour the concrete?

We’ve had our 5.1 arcre Black Hammock Island marsh front property on the market for 6 months. Our real estate agent hardly ever contacted us and did not seem very agressive. We need a good real estate agent as we live out of state. Please give me names of people you have worked with who do their job!!

Cherles Mark asked:

It is an undeniable fact that your vacations can be made much more comfortable just by including a camping hammock in your equipment. Camping hammocks have always been there, but, the interest of people is building up because of the comfort factor associated with hammocks. Since a modern day portable hammock is lightweight, so, it is fast becoming popular. In fact, it is not hard to find a portable hammock or hammock chair in a garden.

Undoubtedly, there are lots of advantages of using hammocks like you can keep your back in comfortable position, keep insects away from you and many more. But, do you really know something about the history of your comfy hammock? Probably not and that’s the reason why it is worth taking a look at it.

Evolution of Hammocks:

There are lots of countries like Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Brazil and Nicaragua, where hammocks have always been used as an essential object. In these countries, hammocks have been used for more than 900 years which is truly fascinating. However, it is thought that hammocks were actually introduced by Mayan Indians in Central America about 1000 years ago. Bark of the hammock tree was used to weave these hammocks. Cotton was next to be used to weave these hammocks because bark of hammock tree was not comfortable enough. Since cotton hammocks was not weatherproof, so, need to introduce some other fabric was very much there.

Hammocks made of canvas cloth were introduced by Europeans which were basically designed for navy. But, these narrow and wood staved hammocks were not too comfortable which gave rise to modern day hammocks.

Today, you can find several companies producing hammocks in all designs, shapes, colors and materials and that is what implies that hammocks are here to stay. So, do get one for you as well.

The two best options for hammock purchase:

Although it is not hard to find several manufacturers offering hammocks in today’s world, but, there are some of the very best in the business. Two amongst those are mentioned below and you can always consider them to fulfill all your needs related to hammocks as they have reached to the heights of quality through dedication and passion.

Hatteras Hammocks: Hatteras Hammock can really be considered as the best option because of several good reasons. The biggest reason is that they have everything that you need like single and double swings, rope and fabric hammocks, and all types of stands.

Pawleys Island Hammocks: If quality and durability is at your preference, then consider Pawleys Island Hammock as the company has the top-notch quality.  You can consider them to get fabric hammocks, rope hammocks, swings, hammock chairs, hammock stands and all related accessories.

So, these are the best options available for you to make a choice. But, while buying a hammock, do make sure that you are buying hammock made of a solid fabric as it is essential for comfort, safety and proper suspension. Similarly, it is also useful to buy hammock with rain canopy and bug net along with a suitable hammock stand. Finally, take special care while hanging a rope hammock because rope hammocks need to be tied in the right way with right trees.

Though going out to parties and seaside on holidays is a great way to make the best of time but at times there is nothing that can supersede the peace and relaxation that you get while lazing around in home all day. During such time, hammocks in home add onto your recreation experience even more. Rope hammocks are one of the most popular choices that people prefer among the wide range of hammocks that are available. So, you can make your very own holiday spot wherever you wish to, amidst two poles or tress.

Two kinds of rope hammocks

Inexpensive, portable, durable and lightweight, rope hammocks are just perfect from all aspects. Not to forget, the comfort level that will soon take you in the dream world. However, this comfort level differs according to the type of rope hammock you have purchased. There are primary two kinds of rope hammocks – the ones made of synthetic and the other made of cotton. Cotton rope hammocks are softer than the synthetic ones.

As far as durability is concerned, for outside use, synthetic rope hammock usually lasts longer. On the other hand, harsh weather condition may cause the cotton hammock to degrade with time. However, when used under the roof, the durability of both kinds of hammocks is believed to be almost the same.

Sorting out the problem of rope imprints

Rope indentation is a common problem that people face when they lay on their hammocks for a long time and this is the reason why many people reject the idea of rope hammocks. But little do they know that they can easily eliminate this problem and avoid any rope imprints on their body by spreading the blanket or sheet on their hammock.

Furthermore, little maintenance of these hammocks increases their popularity even more. You can simply clean it by submerging and rustling it in the soap water. There are also some rope hammocks that can be washed in the machine without being damaged. Nonetheless, it is essential to make use of only gentle cleaners because harsh detergents might damage the ropes.

Also, you can get hold of them in the size that suits your requirements the best. For instance, the largest hammock is believed to have a capacity to hold around three people. You can also go ahead to experiment with colors that varies from red, blue, and green to the pure white color.

Have a great time with your rope hammocks

Galia Ivanova asked:

If you have made the decision to purchase an outdoor hammock, or any other type of hammock, you may want to consider what type of hammock stand would best suit your needs. Whether it would be wooden hammock stand, an arc hammock stand, or a metal one - it all depends on how much money you want to spend and how sturdy you want your new hammock stand to be.

Choosing the right hammock stand can be a very easy thing to be overlooked when it comes to putting your hammock together, yet it is very important to the whole process. Read on to learn what you should think about when concerning a hammock stand.

First, you should look at the hammock itself and judge how sturdy it is, or how sturdy you want it to be. This should be a huge deciding factor when it comes to choosing the right stand. You will want a stand that is as sturdy as it needs to be in order to meet the needs of the hammock and making certain that it is properly secured. This is extremely important for the safety and the support of all the people who may be using the hammock.

Second, you should consider where you intend to place the stand and the hammock. Whether it would be situated near the barbeque in the backyard, or beside the swimming pool, or inside the house - in any case you should measure the space you have selected. This way you make certain that there is enough room for the stand to fit comfortably before purchasing it. When you do the measuring, you can make certain that you do not waste your time and money on buying a stand that is too large in length or width to fit the spot you have chosen, or on one that is too small to use the space adequately.

Lastly, you should certainly compare the cost and quality of the stand before actually purchasing it. This is very important to you and your hammock. If you get a high quality hammock and a cheap hammock stand, then you are just wasting your time. You want to make certain that they are equal in quality and cost. Although, cheap hammock stands look equally beautiful, supportive and sturdy compared to the more expensive ones (besides you would be the only one to know the actual cheaper price of your stand, right).

Now, that you have got the three basic tips you need to choose the right hammock stand for your hammock, get out there and buy it. By reading this you have already done your research and do not need to waste any valuable time wondering what to do. If you follow those tips and take off the measures correctly, it is 100 % sure that you will buy the perfect stand for you - the one that works best for your needs.

I am sure you will remember about how happy and enthusiastic you were about buying the right hammock stand while you are lying back blissfully in your nice hammock.

Melissa Thornton asked:

It is always nice to spend some time in nature while your on a camping trip together with your friends or family. You can have many reasons for going to the great outdoors, maybe to get some rest or to enjoy nature. With camping you can have all these things whenever you want to. There is one item in on the check list before you go on your camping trip that should not be forgotten. Many people don’t think about it, and in the western world it’s not an item you see often in your home so that could be the reason you might forget it. The hammock should definitely be on your camping check list because once your are used to it a hammock is a nice peace of camping furniture to sleep in. There are a lot of hammock types to choose from so you should prepare yourself when go out to buy one, or as many as you need or your money can buy.

Where to find one

If you start your search for hammocks to be used during a camping trip you need to think about what you need and what you are willing to spend. First of all you should know, and you probably do, that a hammock needs two points that it can be tight to so it hangs of the ground. These points could be trees but also two poles you have to dig in to the ground every time you set up your camp. You should ask yourself if your camping trips are always in a place where there are a lot of trees or are you willing to carry at least two poles that you need to fix up every time you want to use your hammock. There are hammocks that have their own support build in. It consists of the hammock and a frame that acts as the two points between which the hammock hangs. One drawback of this last type of hammock is that takes some room to carry with you so it probably is not worth taking with you when you are going on a big hike.

Maybe you should just go for a simple hammock that should be tight between two trees. This is light and does not take to much room in your back pack if you go hiking. And even if it is not a hiking it nice to have a hammock with you. If the camping spot allows for it then you can use it. A hammock can be so much fun, if not for yourself then maybe for the children that came with you on the trip. They could sleep in it at night, while you keep an eye on them, and have a great adventure they can boast about too their friends at school.

A hammock is also great for those slumber moments there always are at these kind of trips. Lying in your hammock with a leg over the edge, just rocking yourself to sleep, that’s the life style we all like. You can find hammocks by searching the internet or go to a sports or camping store.
