A 170-pound man sits at the center of a hammock that is tied between two trees 14 feet apart. The hammock sags 2 feet at the center.

More and more people are treating their backyard as an extension of the home as they seek to find new ways of spending more time on outdoor living. Whether it`s a patio, a deck, or open paved area you can make the most of outdoor entertaining with friends & family, or just relaxing and making the most of the weather. Some ideas:-

Patio furniture needs to look stylish, yet be hard wearing and not prone to rust. Outdoor entertaining is enhanced if you have the right products. Gazebos look good and provide much needed shade in those hot days. Market umbrellas are very useful. Relax with a hammock, chaise lounge, or garden swing.

If you don`t have any trees in your garden to hang a hammock from, there are alternative methods for securing one-

You can use hooks which can be drilled into most types of walls, either on both ends or in combination with trees, posts etc.

Posts can be dug into the garden, either set in concrete or removable. In any event they should be secure so that the hammock won`t collapse when in use.

Sturdy fences also work well, as do pergolas, park benches, columns, boat rails, and so on.

Hammock stands are available and come in a range of shapes, sizes, and prices.

Outdoor lighting is essential for entertaining once the light begins to fail. Lighting can be used to highlight features such as trees and garden beds, creating focal points and adding a dramatic shadowy effect to your garden. And, of course, good lighting will also aid in safety and security.

Add the warm glow of path lights around the yard, garden, or grounds with a solar-powered light set. Integrated solar panels and batteries harness the sun’s power by day, powering the lights by night to show off landscape features or for safer walking around the grounds. With no wires to hook up installation is a snap, just stick them into the ground with the integrated stakes and enjoy the ambience. The lights turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn.

From solar landscaping garden spot lights, to wall lanterns you can make the most of outdoor living with outdoor lighting products.

For year-round outdoor entertaining then you will probably need outdoor heating. Heaters are fast becoming an essential item for outdoor entertaining, and there are several options, both modern and traditional, for heating your patio, backyard, or barbecue area.

One thing you can do without, however, is the attack by mosquitoes. Mosquito control is essential for outdoor entertaining, and we have a range of products available to control this pest.

Mosquito coils, citronella candles and citronella torches are inexpensive and effective methods of repelling mosquitoes.

Bug zappers emit ultraviolet light to attract mosquitoes and other bugs to a lethal electrical grid, where they are killed immediately. If you want to combine pest control and entertainment, you might want to use a bug electrocuter. A light in the center of the unit attracts the bugs. When the bugs move toward the light, they must pass through electrified wires, which “zap” them. Remember though that sometimes bug zappers kill many more helpful insects than bothersome ones, so they could ultimately do your garden more harm than good.

Lotions and sprays containing DEET are available and are very effective at keeping mosquitoes away. It`s essential with this type of product that instructions are followed properly. Treat anything containing DEET with extreme caution.

I found a stand last week that i liked and now cant find on google or yahoo. im looking for a stand that will break down small enough that i can pack into backseat or trunk. The theme parks of Orlando do their best to provide adventure and thrills in simulated and imaginary worlds, and they do a good job. However, when it comes to beauty, variety and the unexpected, then nothing can top what Mother Nature has in store for us. So, while you are in Orlando take a break from the theme parks and explore Central Florida’s amazing natural environment. One of the best ways to do this is to take an airboat ride along the headwaters of the Everglades.

In the Orlando area, there are several airboat rental services that will provide you with an educational and fun-filled outing on the waterways of Central Florida, but before I list them, let’s take a look at what you can expect on one of these rides.

The airboats are low vehicles with a big propeller in the back. In the smaller airboats six people plus the pilot are seated on the deck, and when the boats get going they move at a face pace in the low, marshy waters of Florida’s rivers and lakes. Some of the larger boats carry 30 people at a time.

Along the way you can expect to see a variety of birds, wild boar, raccoons, turtles, wild turkey and the star attraction, the alligators.

The routes followed by the airboats vary according to the operator that you choose. The St. Johns River is a popular locale for the airboats, and other boats ply the waters of Lake Kissimmee, Lake Jesup, and Lake Toho. The rides last from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the operator. Prices are around $45 per person for a 90 minute boat ride. Prices also vary with the differing services, so you should check it advance to see how much it will be. Most of the airboat operators are located within a one hour’s drive from Orlando.
