Are you planning a trip with your little ones to visit Mickey? Here are some ways to spice up the magic:

Tip #1 - Meals with a Disney flavor

Build up the excitement by cooking creative meals that have a Disney flavor for your kids. For example, you can buy uncooked pasta in the shape of Mickey Mouse and whip up a delicious and healthy meal for your princes and princesses with that. “The Gourmet Pantry” in DTD carries it. You can call them at 407-828-3886 to order.

Tip #2 - Avoid the crowd

Crowds are annoying especially when you have kids with you, so it is wise to go when schools are in session.

Tip #3 - Hands-free

Considering bringing along the Playtex Hip Hammock if you are traveling with an infant/toddler. If your child is between 15 to 35 pounds, the hammock works perfectly. It keeps you hands-free while waiting for the bus, standing in line, tending to your older kids and browsing in shops. You can also take your toddler on rides with the Hammock. This is handy. It will make your trip just that much more enjoyable.

Tip #4 - Save your sanity

Kids get impatient while waiting in line, so bring snacks and toys to distract them. Take frequent breaks to prevent exhausting the kids. In the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, kids can chill out at Ariel’s Grotto and Donald’s Boat. Ariel’s Grotto is a great place for kids to cool off in the kids water area and the interactive play area of Donald’s Boat allows children to ring the bell and steer the ship of Donald’s ill-fated leaky. You may wish to arrive at the parks early in the morning, so that your kids can have a nap in the afternoon. This will keep them refreshed for the parades and fireworks.

Tip #5 - Research rides

It is important to research rides beforehand because young children may be frightened by loud noise or darkness. If your child is too young to ride Test Track at Epcot, a nice alternative is to duck into Test Track’s gift shop/ exit and let him/her ride on the cars in the shop.

Tip #6 - Dining options

There is a free Baby Care Center in each Disney park, so head for one when you are looking at some peace and quiet when feeding your baby/toddler. These centers are equipped with rockers, high chairs, and toys. There are even formula and baby food for sale. Do remember to plan one character meal because your trip won’t be complete if the little ones don’t get to mingle with their favorite characters.

Natalie asked:

I want to hang my hammock inside from studs in the wall. Would the studs and the hammock hooks support my weight better if I were to screw the hooks in at a 45 degrees upwards (rather than 90 degrees outwards, perpendicular to the wall)?

Any and all help is much appreciated, but it would be best if you could back up your answer! Thank you

Hammocks are used for peaceful relaxation or resting. They are easy to prepare and hang. Hammocks have three distinct varieties.

There are Three Key Types of Hammocks

Rope Hammocks

Features:

- most common

- most durable and

- inexpensive

- cooler to the skin

- allow for easy air flow

- it conforms more to the body

These hammocks are cooler to use because they are constructed with both cotton and polyester. Easy air flow is also enabled through its weave.

Cotton Rope Hammocks

This is excellent for people who want to bring out an extraordinary type of hammock. Hammocks made from polyester rope can withstand any type of weather. The least comfortable would be rope hammocks and the mesh-fabric variety.

Fabric Hammocks

This type of hammock gives out a continuous surface. These are made from different materials, from natural to artificial. Fabric hammocks are lightweight and easy to handle and carry. It is easy to set up as compared to the rope type. They are also used in the exchange of bedding options. Its maintenance is quite simple since these types of hammocks do not give ventilation, unlike the usual rope hammock. Hence, artificial fabrics can resist moisture.

These hammocks have been around for many, many years so far. Native artists actually hand-weave these type of hammocks with the use of web-like designs. They are comfortable with the shape of the body produced. They are also adaptable as an extra bed or furniture, even in small spaces. They can be anchored in wall hoops or even ceiling beams. They are also featured with colorful patterns and designs.

When you think of hammocks, the ones that come to mind are conventional rope hammocks. This would be the ones tied in-between two trees. Thus, you can make your own single person rope hammock by following these instructions:

Materials to be needed:

- 2 pounds of rope hammock rope sizes 33″ x 72″= 740′ (Use Polypropylene)

- 1 wooden gauge stick size 2″ x 6″

- 1 giant Netting Shuttle size 8″ x 12″ x 3/16″ thick

- 2 hardwood bars size 1 ½” x 1 ½”, 33″ long

- 2 rings (2″ to 3″ diameter)

- Electric drill ¼” bit, 5/16″ bit, rose bit Knot Loop

Instruction:

Cut a three foot piece of string. Use a “square knot” for the end. Hang the loop from a nail, door knob or hook.

Twist rope on to shuttle

Load the shuttle with the hammock rope. Tie the loose end to the loop which you already hung up.

Casting on

Take the shuttle rope. Make 20 loops that are evenly spaced out around the gauge stick. A good knot to use is a “half hitch”.

First row

After removing the gauge stick out, rotate the work. This is to make the shuttle move towards the left. Using your left hand, hold the gauge stick. Bring this shuttle rope:

- down along the front

- up towards behind the gauge stick

- via the initial loop and

- Around the loop in a half hitch.

Repeat uniformly through each loop in turn.

Second and succeeding rows

Rotate the work for the second row. This is to move the shuttle rope to the left. Continue like you did in the first row. Repeat until you get your desired length of the hammock. About fifty four rows would make around seven feet.

Spreader Bars

Instructions:

- Drill 20 holes about ¼” in diameter through each hardwood spreader bar

- Make it 1 ½” apart from center to center

- Make 2 ¼” from each end

- Cut forty 50″ long cords, about twenty for every end

- Then loop the initial cord with a ring

- After this, thread both of the ends via the “left hand hole” in hardwood spreader bar

- Overhand knot through top left hand loop in hammock net

- Tie each cord through bars to loops in net

- Do it both ends

Side braids

These braids are needed so as to let the net to drop in the middle. This is to hold a body snug.

- Make two 3-cord braids size 3″. This must be shorter than the stretched out length of the hammock net.

- Tie one end through the outermost hole in the spreader bar

- Secure with an overhead knot.

- Weave in and out through the outside meshes.

- Tie through the outer hole of the spreader bar at the far end

- Secure with an overhand knot

- Repeat on the other side

Hammocks are used for peaceful relaxation or rest. They come in different shapes and sizes. It fits:

- smaller sizes for individuals and

- larger sizes that fits the whole family

Hammocks are great for indoor or outdoor usage. They can be set up either in your backyard or near your waterfront areas. It can also be carried as a lightweight type of bed, especially when sleeping on boats and ships.

As everyone is in a hurry in this age and the old concept of joint families is diminishing, portability is the term of the day. Now-a-days, people want everything to be portable and same applies in case of hammocks. They are especially designed for people to be able to carry them along comfortably. Some of them are so small that they can be folded, backpacked, and stored in suitcases or other bags that people carry while traveling. So those of you like backpacking and camping, portable hammocks are perfect choice for you. Portable hammocks have been designed to facilitate easy to and fro movement from home.

Hammocks have been part of the market for some time now, but only the introduction of sophisticated fabrics like polyester and cotton made it possible to prepare portable hammocks. At present, portable hammocks made of polyester and cotton are flooding the market.

Portable Hammocks

are especially manufactured for people who like to indulge in camping activities. The main feature that separates portable hammocks from other types of hammocks is that they have bug netting. When people are camping, portable hammocks can be used as beds and shelter at nights. So those of you who have gone out on a camping trip should not only seek comfort at the cost of being beaten by mosquitoes. Here, the zippered bug net of the portable hammocks can help people keep mosquitoes and other biting insects away.

The portable hammocks for camping are equipped with a zippered bug net. When people think of buying portable hammocks, they may face tricky situations. First and foremost, they should be sure about the features they want portable hammocks should have. Usually, a single piece of fabric is used to manufacture portable hammocks, which is stretchable across the independent stands on both the sides. These hammocks do not require the support of anything with which to hang them as this feature is included into the hammock itself.

If people find it difficult to get portable hammocks from shops, they can look for them on the internet. When they search for them online, they should consider terms like beach hammocks, which are also a type of portable hammocks. Those who of you want to go on a picnic, a portable swing hammock can serve them best as swing hammocks are useful for sitting and rocking.

Portable hammocks come in different categories such as carry-on portable hammock, backpack portable hammock, deluxe portable hammock with radio, mesh portable hammock, and the lightest portable hammock.

Todd S Singer asked:

In any home, it’s not necessarily the couches, televisions or other big ticket items that make it unique. It’s the accent pieces that add the true personal touches. Patios are no different, and while a beautiful patio table along with patio chairs, patio cushions, umbrellas, or even fire pits in the yard can set the tone, accent pieces that add that little extra will set your patio apart. All-American Pool and Patio invites you to add the finishing touches to your patio. Play it right and it’ll feel like an extra room in your home, only outdoors.

When it comes to creating a mood, nothing does it quite like lighting. Trust us when we say your standard porch light just doesn’t cut it. Instead, look into the amazing pieces of outdoor lighting that double as aesthetically pleasing parts of your patio. The latest lines of floor lamps and table lamps rival any lamps you’ll see indoors in terms of style and structure. Choose one that creates the look and feel you want, and illuminate your new outdoor rug in the process. No matter what type of patio flooring you have, an outdoor rug can be a beautiful accent piece to patio furniture and can create the feel of a true living space.

Of course a true living space deserves a place for an nice afternoon siesta, and a hammock fits the bill quite nicely. A hammock brings to mind a lazy summer day, and adds a nice touch to any patio. And if you’ve never slept in one, let’s just say there’s something to be said for the hammock-style siesta. And to take your entertaining to another level, add an outdoor bar or porch swing to the mix. Allow friends and family to relax and dine in comfort, and make your patio and backyard the place in your neighborhood for family fun.

Remember that outdoors as with indoors the big ticket items are important, but it’s the accent pieces that make the difference. Discover those items, perhaps ones you’ve never previously considered, and personalize your patio as never before. In the short-term you’ll make it more beautiful and versatile, and in the long-term you’ll make it a gathering place for those closest to you.

Galia Ivanova asked:

Are you looking for an outdoor hammock for your backyard? Well, if so, you will want to do some research before you invest the time and money it takes to finish this backyard enhancement project. Read on to learn some valuable tips you should think about before investing in your outdoor hammock.

First, you need to consider how sturdy you need the hammock to be. You may want to think of the people that will be using it, as well as their size and how many people will be using it (2-3 separately or all at once). For example, Mayan and Nicaraguan hammocks are the sturdiest hammocks styles for 2 and more people to be using them at the same time. This is very important when you start looking at various outdoor hammocks, because the sturdier it is the more it may cost. If you can get away with one that is not as sturdy and is meant for one person only, then you might be able to save quite a bit of money, or even buy two individual hammocks for the price of one large one.

Second, you need to think about where you are going to place the outdoor hammock to aid you in getting just the right size. If you are thinking of placing it in the relaxing location between two shade trees, then you may want to measure the distance between those trees to make certain you get the right size in length, otherwise you may need quite a long hanging hardware. This is very important because if you do not get the size you need for the right location, then you could easily just be wasting your money and time trying to fit the hammock properly.

Lastly, but not least important, you may want to think about the color and design of the outdoor hammock. You most likely are getting hammock for the decor in your yard as well as your personal comfort and taste, so this is a very important aspect that you should consider as well. Read on to learn more:

You should pick a color that is consistent with the other colors in your backyard motif, or pick a color or hammock pattern that are neutral and can fit easily to any surroundings (white color is classic for rope hammocks, and beige is even better and easier to fit almost to any backyard decor). You also should get a design that is pleasing to the eye. This can really make your work worthwhile.

Once you through out all of the above, you should be certain to take the time to sit back and relax so you can get the most out of your purchase and reap the benefits that it can provide for your comfort and the addition to your backyard decor as well. This truly is a winning combination for you and your backyard combined.

I hope my basic tips on choosing the best outdoor hammock will work for you and you will be able to finish successfully and satisfactory your backyard enhancement project.
